Tikal in Guatemala

Embark on a cross-border adventure to Tikal, one of the most iconic and expansive Maya archaeological sites in the world. Located in the Petén region of northern Guatemala, Tikal was once a powerful city-state that flourished between 200 and 900 AD. With its towering pyramids, vast plazas, and deep jungle setting, Tikal offers one of the most awe-inspiring experiences in all of Central America.

Your day begins early with a 6:30 AM departure from Villa Massis. After a scenic drive west through San Ignacio, we’ll assist you with border crossing procedures before continuing to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the way, your guide will share insights into the connections between Belize’s Maya cities and the great city of Tikal.

Once inside the park, prepare to be amazed. You’ll walk through towering jungle trails to discover temples that rise above the canopy, such as Temple IV, which stands over 200 feet tall and offers sweeping views over the forest. Wildlife abounds—spider monkeys swing through the trees, toucans call overhead, and coatis scurry across the paths. The main plaza, surrounded by massive pyramids and ancient royal tombs, gives you a true sense of the city’s grandeur.
